Maximum Ride

I have become totally enamored with science fiction. This is just one of James Patterson's novels for young people. If you ask me, it is fantastic!

A Few of my Favorite Reads...and Read Again.

House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer is a absolutely, exciting science fiction tale of a boy that just happened to be a "clone". There are dramatic twists and turns throughout the story. If you like a good sci-fi tale this is the book for you.

Books, Books and more Books!

Have you ever read a book that was "so very good" that you read it again and again? Well, I have done that many times. I have several favorite authors and I will read over again in a heartbeat! That is something you may find interesting about yourself too.
I mentioned that I have favorite authors. They are as varied as the books that I read. I like variety as much as I like books! Dr. Seuss, Jacqueline Woodson, Paula Danziger, Sharon Draper, Nancy Farmer, James Patterson, Ann Martin and Christopher Paolini are some of my favorite authors.
Jackie Woodson's "Locomotion" is a story in poetry. Paula Danziger's book, "Longer Letter Later" is full of letters between friends. Nancy's book "House of the Scorpion" is full of action and suspense. I fell in love with James Patterson's works long before he wrote his young adult series about "Mazimum Ride" and the gang. Ann Martin had me entranced with "A Corner of the universe". And, I was transported to another era with Paolini's Eragon". Week-ends are awash with books. Evenings are lost in books and it's not unusual to see me juggling more than one book. Let's get together for a good read soon.

"Tis the Season To Be Reading"

January was National Gourmet Coffee Month and National Hot Tea Month. In the Perkins Middle School library adults were asked to "paws" and read for 15 minutes, while sipping on coffee or tea. For their time these readers were given a "Tis the Season To Be Reading" t-shirt or sweatshirt. Each recipient was quite surprised. Just for reading and enjoying a hot cup of coffee or tea while they read they were able to leave with a colorful shirt. More than 100 shirts were given out to adults, book club members and avid library patrons during January.
